Jalopy's deep and dynamic instrumental funk pays tribute to the funk and acid-jazz legends of the 60s and 70s. Featuring a full horn section, Jalopy mixes afrobeat grooves, soulful organ and rhythmic funk guitar throughout their dance friendly sets.

James Brown, Grant Green, Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff, "Boogaloo" Joe Jones and The Meters are all cited as early influences to Jalopy's sound.

Jalopy is also inspired by contemporary acts such as the New Mastersounds, MMW, the Greyboy Allstars, The Budos Band, Orgone and Galactic. Jalopy's improvisation usually draw from these influences or build into an original danceable groove. Either way, the funk is omnipresent.
